Global Law Asia Pacific Members Meeting
In April, OLN was pleased to host Globalaw’s Asia Pacific Members’ Meeting at The Pavilions, Phuket. Over 20 law firms from around the world convened for the three day conference that focused on the luxury industry in Asia as well as marketing and brand management for law firms. Of particular note, internationally acclaimed key-note speaker Martin Roll shared perspectives on the challenges facing Asian brands as they seek to enter the global arena.

OLN Chambers Cocktail Party
OLN hosted a cocktail party on the 23rd of June to share the joy of being named Chambers and Partners, Hong Kong National Law Firm of the year, with other professionals who played an important role in attaining this status.
With the sporadic and impromptu vocal performance by the talents of Golden Voice, this cocktail managed to set itself apart from other events.

First Nepalese Lawyer in Hong Kong

A Hong Kong Nepalese resident has, for the first time ever, been admitted as solicitor in Hong Kong.
Mr. Yek Narayan Sharma, after successfully passing the Overseas Lawyers Qualification Examination conducted by the Law Society of Hong Kong, was admitted into the profession on Saturday, 20 March.

Negotiations leading to an out-of-court settlement seem to be the least damaging and inexpensive route for Chinese mainland traders to take in contractual disputes.
That's because Chinese businesses prefer a less confrontational appoach to disagreements than in the west, where executives are quick to call their lawyers. Mediation is more than a harmonious approach to settling disputes and keeping relationships going; it also keeps trade secrets and the dispute and resolution confidential, legal advisers say.
